Accessibility Statement

Last updated:

This statement covers both our website and our transport service. We want everyone to be able to book a taxi with Western Cars Worthing Ltd and to travel comfortably, and we would rather hear about a problem than have someone struggle in silence.

Accessible transport

We provide the following as standard:

  • Wheelchair accessible vehicles with ramps and secure restraint systems, so passengers can remain in their wheelchair during the journey if they wish
  • Drivers briefed to assist with boarding and alighting, and to take the time it needs
  • Registered assistance dogs travel free of charge, at all times
  • Carers and companions travel with you as normal — just tell us the number of passengers
  • Pet-friendly vehicles can be arranged for other animals when agreed at the time of booking
  • Seating for passengers who need more room to get in and out, in our estates and people carriers

Accessible vehicles are a limited resource, so please tell us when you book that one is needed. That way we reserve it for your journey rather than trying to find one on the day.

Booking with additional needs

If you need anything specific to travel comfortably, tell us when you book and we will do our best to arrange it. That might include:

  • A driver who will come to your door to collect you
  • Extra time to board, or assistance carrying shopping or luggage
  • A vehicle with more space, or a specific seating position
  • Clear, simple communication about when your car will arrive
  • Waiting time during an appointment, if you would like the driver to stay

The easiest way to arrange any of this is by phone, because it is a conversation rather than a form. Call 01903 500600 — our lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Website accessibility

This website has been built with accessibility in mind. Specifically, it aims to:

  • Use semantic HTML with a logical heading order, so screen readers and assistive technology can navigate it
  • Be fully operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator for every interactive element
  • Provide sufficient colour contrast for text and interface components
  • Label every form field, with errors announced to assistive technology rather than shown only in colour
  • Provide meaningful alternative text for images
  • Respect the operating system's reduced-motion setting, and avoid animation that could cause discomfort
  • Remain usable at 320px width and when text is enlarged, without horizontal scrolling
  • Allow pinch zoom — zoom is never disabled
  • Keep important information as real text rather than text inside images

We have aimed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Known limitations

We are not aware of any part of this website that is inaccessible, but we would rather hear about a problem than assume. Part of our booking is handled by a third-party booking system which we do not control; if you have difficulty using it, please call us and we will take the booking over the phone instead.

Tell us about a problem

If you find something on this website that you cannot use, or if you need information in a different format — large print, plain text, or read aloud over the phone — please tell us:

We will acknowledge your message and tell you what we intend to do about it.

Assessment approach

This website was assessed by self-evaluation during its build, using automated checks and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing. We review accessibility when we make significant changes to the site.
